I made the above door hangers inspired by my friends’ pregnancies and the birth of their firstborn: a baby boy to one of my closest friends this January (the top design), and a baby girl the previous January, born to two awesome people I met in college. Two interpretations of a similar theme, made a year apart. It amuses me to see them side by side because I see myself graduating from a reliance on scrapbook supplies in the earlier door hanger, to using similar supplies much more to my own ends (eg, scrapbooking papers are used for the boat’s sails, but I handpainted the background). Also, admittedly, I can see some improvement in how I photograph my stuff (”Look, ma! No hands!” in the top photos, for one obvious thing…), even knowing the top photos were taken in a hurry before I got that puppy in the mail.
Just a little insight into some of the other things I made before I worked up to purchasing some canvases.
